- Our T8 lamps use about half the electricity to run compared to most fluorescent lights (depending on what type of bulb/lamp is being replaced). This is very important to consider when looking at these products. Energy costs for residential and commercial have increased 40% in the past 10 years and 50% in industrial segment (U.S. Energy Information Administration – Independent Statistics and Analysis Report Jan 4, 2011).
- Longevity of our T8 G2 bulbs is approximately 50,000 hours, compared to 5,000 hours from conventional fluorescents.
- The T8 bulbs we sell have the latest LED technology (SMD – surface mount design) with much longer durability than other types of lamps because of the heat dissipation in the newer design. Older LED lamps use DIP technology that doesn’t deal with the heat as well.
- Color choices are available in most LEDs.
The light color is more controlled and can be natural colored, which gives greater benefits to health and is easier on the eyes.
- Natural color light provides more lumens per watt than other color choice options.
- LED’s, unlike fluorescent lamps, do not produce light flicker. Flicker is a major cause of eyestrain.
- There is no UV light emitted from LED’s, but you do get UV light (which damages surfaces and isn’t healthy for people) in fluorescent, metal halide and incandescent lamps.

- The T8 G5 1.2m lamp uses approximately
16 watts of energy for 1280 lumens of light.
- Unlimited shelf life. Fluorescents have a shelf life because the gas in the lamps can move to one side or leak out completely. LED’s don’t have those issues.
- The LED lamps can be stored vertically with no ill effects, which can’t be said for fluorescents.
- LEDs produce very little heat. If you are replacing incandescent bulbs with LED’s you not only save energy in the light but also in the cooling of the space. You won’t need to cool areas as much if using LEDs since they aren’t producing as much heat as incandescents.
